Music Therapy Assessment

A music therapy assessment is done to determine if music therapy will be beneficial for the prospective client. Assessments are approximately 2 hours long. The first hour is spent considering possible goals for the client, while the second hour involves the client and therapist interacting through music interventions.

The assessment is sent within 1-2 weeks. If the client qualifies for services, we move forward with scheduling.

Individual Music Therapy Sessions

These sessions are one-on-one sessions where the music therapist provides direct individualized interaction with the client through music interventions. The music therapy interventions implemented during each session are to address and measure progress of the client’s goals and objectives. These goal areas may compliment IEP goals, goals in other therapies, or any additional areas of need.

*Individual sessions are offered for 30-minute and 60-minute.

Group Music Therapy Sessions

Some settings that benefit from group sessions are school settings, nursing or assisted living facilities, day programs, rehabilitation centers, support groups, or behavioral health units. Group sessions can use music interventions to address common and individual goals within the group. These could be goals related to socialization, academic support, physical exercise and movement, emotional processing, self-expression, and more!

*Group sessions are currently offered for 60-minute time slots and typically take place once a week.

Adaptive Music Lessons

How can you adapt a lesson to meet nonmusical needs?

Many children and adults show interest in learning an instrument but do not show benefits from traditional music lessons. Three-Chord specializes in modifying the instructional methods to help each individual reach their maximum potential, no matter what the diagnosis. Because a certified music therapist administers the lessons, adapted lessons open the door for musical and nonmusical goals to be addressed in a safe and fun manner.  Contact us today to find if adapted music lessons are right for you or your loved one!
